What does detox mean?

Hi friend, welcome to my blog!
I'm guessing that you got here because you were searching for something related to body detoxification. I hope you find the answers you seek for here. You can bookmark this blog and let me know how I can be of help.
Now let's dive in........
Detoxification or detoxication (simply detox) is the physiological or medicinal removal of toxic substances from a living organism e.g. the human body. It is a process or period of time when you stop taking unhealthy or harmful foods, drinks, or drugs into your body in order to improve your health.
While detoxification means to get rid of harmful substances which a person can become addicted to, such as alcohol and drugs, it could also mean removing harmful or potentially damaging substances from our bodies, our environment and our diet.
Proponents claim that the cumulative load, called the "body burden", may lead to illness and has been linked to hormonal imbalance, impaired immune function, and nutritional deficiencies. Symptoms are said to include indigestion, poor concentration, tiredness, headaches, bad breath, poor skin, and muscle pain.
For me, detoxification is simply internal cleansing of the body, and the organ that carries out this function naturally is the liver. The problem, however, is that it’s often hard to know when our internal cleansing mechanisms are not functioning well. Unlike other parts of our body, it is very hard to know how well our liver is working. Which is why there is a handful of detoxification programs to primarily support the organs of elimination so that toxins present in the body can be metabolized and excreted.

There are numerous harmful substances that we are exposed to that directly or indirectly affected us. These can be harmful to one's health and can possibly reduce one's vitality and spark. Through a process of detoxification, one can get rid of these accumulated harmful substances that stress our body systems.

Some harmful substances that we tend to accumulate include:

  • Air pollutants including industrial waste & car fumes.
  • Food preservatives, additives, and sweeteners.
  • Make-up, hair dyes, perfumes & cleansing products which contain preservatives and strong chemicals that can be considered harmful to the body.
  • Toxins in household cleaning products.
  • Heavy metal corrosion which can enter drinking water.
  • Alcohol, cigarette smoke & harmful addictive substances.

While it is true that some of these substances, e.g alcohol, are water solvent and will largely be flushed out of the body, some harmful substances are not water soluble and tend to get stored in the body's fatty tissue.

By eliminating or flushing out toxic substances and by minimizing the amount taken into the body, one can increase one's chances of optimum health.

I suggest you try some farm produce to begin the internal cleansing of your body

Eating fresh farm produce can reduce the amount of chemicals one eats with one's food. Bear it in mind that most supermarket foods are sprayed with insecticides or fertilizers.
Minimize the amount of chemicals ingested .
Give attention to foods that provide the vitamins, nutrients, and antioxidants that the body needs for detoxification.
Give attention to foods, such as fiber-rich foods and water, that increase the frequency of bowel movements and urination.

Toxin: Toxins are basically substances that are considered to cause physical harm or damage, and which, if taken in large enough doses, can prove to be fatal.
